Vern Morrow was born in Germany and turned 16 in the summer of 1943. When he returned to school with his classmates, they were all forcibly enlisted in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery of the Luftwaffe. In this memoir Vern describes his year in the AAA Auxiliary.

Vern Morrow was born in Germany and 17 the summer of 1943. After a year as a draftee with the Anti-Aircraft Auxiliary he received his call up orders for the Compulsory Labour Service. This narrative summarizes a few of the incidents that Vern encountered in his time Compulsory Labour Service before heading off to the Navy.
